No line on the horizon”
(altro…)

«Quanta Bibbia nel rock degli U2»
«How long to sing this song?». (altro…)

Bono’s Prophetic Rock Concert

JUST LAW AND RELIGION – Michael Kessler – Washington Post

U2’s 360 tour came to the DC region Tuesday–complete with a 164-foot tall spaceship stage and glitzy light show. The tunes were smooth and sexy; the stage was spectacular–even carnivalesque. But what stole the show was Bono’s prophetic message about human dignity and rights. (altro…)

Da American Papist :

Tim Drake reports at NCRegister.com:

In a recent Rolling Stone magazine interview with Brian Hiatt, U2’s Bono says that the song “Magnificent” is inspired by the Blessed Virgin Mary. “All music for me is worship of one kind or another,” says Bono. The song appears on the band’s new album, “No Line on the Horizon.” “Magnificent was inspired by the Magnificat, a passage from the Gospel of Luke in the voice of the Virgin Mary that was previously set to music by Bach,” says Bono. “There’s this theme running through the album of surrender and devotion and all the things I find really difficult.”

U2’s Sacred Pilgrimage: ‘I Found Grace, It’s All That I Found’195-jpiibonoglasses01
by Cathleen Falsani March 06-2009 – Sojo.net

Without a line on the horizon, we may feel like there is no limit to how far we can go. But it also makes the seas difficult to navigate.

That is, in many ways, where we find ourselves today. It’s as infinitely terrifying as it is exciting. Where do we go from here and how do we find our way?

U2’s 12th studio album, No Line On The Horizon, gives a few great answers, if you have the ears to hear and the eyes to see them. (I hope you do.)

More than 25 years ago, when I dropped the needle on a U2 album for the first time, I heard the words of a familiar liturgy — “Gloria in te domine, Gloria exultate!” — punctuated by the keening sound of the Edge’s guitar and followed by Bono’s gnarly tenor shout-singing, “O Lord, loosen my lips!”

My soul did a back-flip and kept on tumbling … (altro…)

Gloria, 1981

I try to sing this song
I…I try to stand up
But I can’t find my feet
I try, I try to speak up
But only in you I’m complete

Gloria…in te domine
Gloria…exultate
Gloria…Gloria
Oh Lord, loosen my lips (altro…)
